The Norwegian Breakaway is one of NCL’s newest and most innovative ships. We sail from New Orleans for our seven night sailing. Norwegian (NCL)is best know for its informality. No formal attire! Dress in the dining room every night is smart casual. In addition, NCL is known for several specialty dining venues. Enjoy dining in the steak house, Italian, French, Sushi and Asian Fusion dining rooms.

Breakaway offers resort-like, rather than ship-like, entertainment and dining. While other cruise lines have been catching on to this style, Norwegian Breakaway — the largest ship in Norwegian’s fleet outpaces its competitors with sheer number of restaurants, shows and entertainment venues. Our experience onboard cruise will feel so much like a jam-packed stay at a really good Las Vegas resort that we only remembered we were on a ship when looking out to sea.

With NCL you will get your choice of two complimentary perks. You may choose from an unlimited beverage package (not available for roommate share program), specialty dining (3), a shipboard credit, prepaid gratuities or free internet.

We visit three ports of call plus three relaxing days at sea. You will have the chance to see ancient Mayan ruins, snorkel or scuba dive in crystal clear waters, wonderful beaches, zip line or even a swim with dolphins. Guys seem to really enjoy the days at sea as relaxing and nourishing but we also plan some private fun events.

Rates begin at only $649 plus $144 per person port tax for an inside cabin. Window, balcony and suites are also available. Your Cruise Retreat rate includes all your meals, basic beverages and entertainment as well as our private events.

Traveling solo, fear not. Our cruise attracts a very large number single travelers. In fact, if you need a roommate, we do provide a roommate match program.

It is most gratifying to see the large number of strong long lasting friendships that develop each year. Find your new extended family. We are privileged to have many, many cruisers join us for three, five and ten years. Some never miss a year! These repeat guests give you an inkling of a new extended family waiting to meet you.

This trip was like chicken soup for my soul… (nothing like Jewish penicillin!) it was just want I needed.  I had an awesome time I made friends with guys from all over the globe and have been in contact with them already.  I danced my feet off at the white party and red party then every night up at the disco. Brought me back to my younger days! I hope to join you next year out of New Orleans.

First off, in this time of Thanksgiving I am very grateful for all you did to make our Cruise 2017 so very wonderful.
– Andrew P, New Mexico

I think I finally found my tribe.
– Ben C, New Mexico

My first cruise with you all. I was delighted with all the camaraderie and friendship.
– Brad, Washington, DC

I had such a great time on the cruise making new friends. And for those who took the time to know me. I am very thankful with gratitude.
– Michael G, Arizona

I have joined this cruise for five consecutive years, and what I most look forward to is renewing all the friendships I have made with wonderful people on previous cruises, and meeting and forming new connections with all of those participating for the first time. There are bonds of camaraderie that develop almost instantly and that only grow and deepen over time.  I first went on this cruise looking to enjoy the sun and the sea in an environment where I could fully be myself. I didn’t expect to find and become part of a community, and that is what brings me back year after year.
– Patrick, Toronto, Canada

Had a wonderful time on the cruise… It was great seeing old friends and making new. See you in 2018!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Payments: Norwegian Cruises will require a deposit of $300.00 per cabin at the time of reservations. Final payment will be due July 7, 2018 and will be automatically charged to your credit card unless you notify me in advance to use a different form of payment. Any and all check payments should be made payable to Cruise Designs.

2. Documents: Each person must have a valid U.S. passport, a passport card or an enhanced driver’s license. Also acceptable is your state issued birth certificate with your driver’s license. Canadian and residents of other countries will need to check with their consulates to see if a visa will be required.

3. Pre-cruise hotel: Our host hotel will be the Courtyard French Quarter Hotel. We were able to get a great rate for high season in New Orleans. The rate is $199 for single or double occupancy. You may stay up to three nights prior to the cruise. FYI, the rate on the Marriott website is $390. To place a reservation please use this link: Book your group rate for Cruise Retreat.

4. Cabin Assignments: I will reserve the best available cabin at the time of your reservation. From time to time you may not get a cabin number immediately. This means that the cruise line has guaranteed your rate but temporarily can not assign a cabin number. You are guaranteed to get the cabin category that you have selected but you may have to wait a while for it to be assigned.

5. Cashless Society: When checking at the pier you will need to leave a credit card imprint. Anything you purchase on the ship will be charged to your cabin account. Cash is not accepted anywhere except the casino. Should you not have a credit card, you will need to leave cash deposit from which you may draw.

6. Ship Board Activities: The first night of every cruise we host a welcome cocktail party exclusively for our guests. This is the first time the entire group will have a chance to meet and mingle. We will make many useful announcements. Other private events are also planned for the week. Full details of our daily itinerary will be made available to you upon check in on the ship.

7. Dining: We have confirmed a block of tables together at 8:15PM each evening. Since the tables are ours, you may feel free to move from table to table each evening. We encourage this so that you get the chance to get to know as many people as possible. Dining the rest of the evenings is casual meaning slacks and shirt or polo type shirt. All meals in the buffet are always casual. You may request other dining times if you wish but you will not be with the rest of the group. We find it a great bonding experience if the entire group dines together.

8. Room Mates: We offer those who are traveling alone the opportunity to be paired up with other solo travelers. Roommate shares are not available in all categories. You may find your own roommate until August 5, 2018. I assign roommate at the time of final payment. After you have been assigned a roommate I will introduce the two of you by email.

9. Shore Excursions: The ship will offer many excursions to purchase. We however, will offer at least two or three of our own including a chartered catamaran for swimming, snorkeling and fun. Our trips are usually lower priced and include more than what the ship will offer. Information regarding our excursions will be sent to you about 60 days prior to sailing.

10. Gratuities: A daily charge of $13.99 per person will be added to your cabin account to serve as tips to porters, waiters, cabins stewards, and pool boys.

11. Getting to the Ship: Fly into New Orleans airport and try to arrive before 12PM. If you stay at our host hotel we will offer transfer service to the pier for a nominal fee. When flying home try to find a flight close to 12 PM
