April 9 – 13, 2018

Sail roundtrip from Miami on the Norwegian Sky!
Over night in Havana!

The door to Cuba’s soul, Havana captivates with its larger-than-life culture, sultry rhythms and weathered beauty. Take a relaxing stroll along the evocative Malecón, the quintessentially Cuban thoroughfare and get lost among the Baroque facades and colonial cobblestone streets of Old Havana. Enjoy traditional Cuban fare such as moros y cristianos (black beans and rice) and ropa vieja (shredded beef). Visit the grandiose Capitolio Nacional and explore the world-class art collection at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which showcases everything from colonial-era paintings to countless masterpieces from Cuba’s famed Vanguard period. Enjoy a friendly game of dominoes with the locals. Sip a daiquiri at Hemingway’s favorite haunt, El Floridita, happen upon a live jazz group and simply savor the eclectic moment in this unique corner of the Americas.

I have personally been to Cuba now three times in four years. I find the culture, architecture, the people and the unbounded energy of the island to be captivating, unlike any other island in the Caribbean. In fact, if you did not know that you were in the Caribbean, you might envision Spanish cites such as Seville, Segovia or Valencia. Cuba is hauntingly beautiful, frozen in time in the 1950’s. You will amazed and overwhelmed by the beauty and pulse of Havana.

I selected this sailing to try to introduce more people to Cuba. The basic land based tours can range from $4500 – $7000 per person. This cruise options allows you to see Havana in it’s natural unspoiled state. It will be years before rates decrease and the best time to visit Cuba is now before the island becomes more “Americanized”. Join me and I will show you the very best of Havana!!

FAQ

Carnival Cruises will require a deposit of $600.00 per cabin ($300 per person) at the time of reservations. Final payment will be due August 8, 2016 and will be automatically charged to your credit card unless you notify me in advance to use a different form of payment. Any and all check payments should be made payable to Cruise Designs.
Each person must have a valid U.S. passport, a passport card or an enhanced driver’s license. Also acceptable is your state issued birth certificate with your driver’s license. Canadian and residents of other countries will need to check with their consulates to see if a visa will be required.
Our host hotel this year will be the Courtyard by Marriott which is on the beach in Ft Lauderdale. We have negotiated group rate of $179.00 daily. To make reservations please call the hotel at 888- 321 – 2211. Please request the CRUISE RETREAT rate. The hotel is located at 440 Seabreeze Blvd. FL 33316 and their local number is 954 – 524 – 8733.
I will reserve the best available cabin at the time of your reservation. From time to time you may not get a cabin number immediately. This means that the cruise line has guaranteed your rate but temporarily can not assign a cabin number. You are guaranteed to get the cabin category that you have selected but you may have to wait a while for it to be assigned.
When checking at the pier you will need to leave a credit card imprint. Anything you purchase on the ship will be charged to your cabin account. Cash is not accepted anywhere except the casino. Should you not have a credit card, you will need to leave cash deposit from which you may draw.
The first night of every cruise we host a welcome cocktail party exclusively for our guests. This is the first time the entire group will have a chance to meet and mingle. We will make many useful announcements. Other private events are also planned for the week. Full details of our daily itinerary will be made available to you upon check in on the ship.
We have confirmed a block of tables together at 8:15PM each evening. Since the tables are ours, you may feel free to move from table to table each evening. We encourage this so that you get the chance to get to know as many people as possible. Dining the rest of the evenings is casual meaning slacks and shirt or polo type shirt. All meals in the buffet are always casual. You may request other dining times if you wish but you will not be with the rest of the group. We find it a great bonding experience if the entire group dines together.
We offer those who are traveling alone the opportunity to be paired up with other solo travelers. Roommate shares are not available in all categories. You may find your own roommate until final payment date. I assign roommate at the time of final payment. After you have been assigned a roommate I will introduce the two of you by email.
The ship will offer many excursions to purchase. We however, will offer at least two or three of our own including a chartered catamaran for swimming, snorkeling and fun. Our trips are usually lower priced and include more than what the ship will offer. Information regarding our excursions will be sent to you about 60 days prior to sailing.
A daily charge of $12.95 per person will be added to your cabin account to serve as tips to porters, waiters, cabins stewards, and pool boys.
Fly into Ft Lauderdale airport and try to arrive before 12PM. If you stay at our host hotel we will offer transfer service to the pier for a nominal fee. Should you fly in the day of sailing a taxi, which should cost about $15.00 is best. When flying home try to find a flight close to 12 PM.
